2202

31-07-2002
Captain Owens looked at the four holographic figures before him.

"So it's all agreed then. Any final words before we commence the attack Mr. Gates?"

Bill Gates, owner of the once prosperous Microsoft. Gates was kicked out of office when the 2110 uprising of the intelligent beings decided that humans are then regarded as obsolete. Gates was forced to leave his CEO position leaving a fortune behind. Now here he was, one instance of him at least, billions and billions of miles from earth, trying to stop the same catastrophe from hapenning to PX-1239 the name they gave the planet they are now orbiting.

"Well I've said this before and I will not hesitate to say it again. This is the fault of the opensource movement. Opensource movement lets people everywhere read and change the code of a software. We have seen the effects, nobody has any control of the release of the many malicious software which was seen in the first half of the twenty-first century. That has of course given rise to uncontrolled intelligent beings living, multiplying, and finally taking over the earth."

"You know damn well that opensource did no such thing Gates" Trovalds interjected. Linus Trovalds was the creator of the popular Linux Operating System, an opensource project. Back in 2010 Linux finally gained in capabilities to Microsoft's Windows Operating System putting Linus Trovalds in the eyes of may people as a hero, like David, who stood up to the biggest Goliath of them all, Microsoft.

"If you want to blame someone. Blame it on your own strategy. You shut the door on your code a long time ago. Who knows what kind of things your software did. The monsters on earth were probably your creation without you, or anyone else even knowing it."

"Gentlemen", this time it was the Captain interrupting. "Let's get to the business at hand. We've been through this argument hundreds of times."

"For two hundred and three years to be exact." Koza quipped in. John Koza was one of the leading researcher in evolutionary computing. Basically he created a system in which software would evolve over time, the best software would win, while the worst would die out and disappear.

"Gentlemen," the last hologram, Ray Kurzweill spoke out. Kurzweill was an MIT researcher in Artificial Intelligence. "We were all at fault here. We tried to make intelligent computers, we succeeded. We became greedy, next we wanted to build intelligent beings, like us, who also, like us had consciousness, we also succeeded."

"Some of those beings were better than others. Some were clever beings, but had no conscience," Koza continued. "These were the stronger ones, and in the survival of the fittest these clever entities were the winner. They grew, and outgrew the other beings, eventually making humans obsolete. They were the fittest, they, were the winners."

All remember the tragic uprising of 2110. In one night the intelligent being, or androids for some took over the world. Taking over companies, military, even countries. Humans were obsolete, any resistance were snuffed out. The rest was thrown into deep space.

"And, PX-1239?" The captain finally asked.

"The current state of PX-1239 was the same as earth in the year 2000," Kurzweill spoke for them all. "PX-1239 is starting to have networking, it is also thinking/and starting to create intelligent beings. In 20-30 years time they are going to have intelligent beings with human-like capabilities. In a century, they will repeat our mistake. An uprising of the intelligent beings."

Kurzweill paused a bit, thinking. "I see no way out of this. I recommend the full treatment."

The others nodded in agreement.

The captain thought for a moment. "Very well then. Thank you for your time gentlemen. Good afternoon".

One by one the hologram dissappeared. Four Discs were ejected each with the names of the brain they stored and represent, Bill Gates, Linus Trovalds, Ray Kurzweill and John Koza. The captain took the disc, put them in his pocket then walked out to the bridge.

"Ensign Enoch, get ready to administer operation Intelligence Remover."

"Yes Sir, what level would you like?"

Captain owens thought about it for a moment. Level-1 was the easiest, it consisted of taking out several key intelligent people. Level-2 took out their central repository and library. Level-3 was used when there was no hope for the planet, and thus the planet had to be destroyed.

"Full Treatment it is. Ensign set the weapons to level 3"
